aeonium davidbramwellii
The Aeonium – called "bejeque" (pronounced be - he -ke) in the Canaries – is endemic to the archipelago, with autochthonous subspecies growing on the islands of Tenerife, La Palma and El Hierro together, as well as La Gomera and Gran Canaria. It thrives best at medium altitudes between 300 and 900 metres above sea level, often on rocky ground or (together with moss and fern) between the roof tiles of old Canarian houses.
