To get from Santo Domingo to Salvatierra, you have to cross the Barranco de los Sables gorge. Here you will find many caves that were once inhabited by the indigenous people of Palmer. Today, they serve as shelters for the goats in the steep rock faces, where candelabra spurge, bejeques and individual dragon trees grow. If you look back in the direction of Santo Domingo, you will notice the four-storey old building – a rarity in the area.
