Fern

pteridium aquilinum

The ferns, whose fronds can grow up to two metres long, thrive in the thermophilic, humid laurel forests at an altitude of between 500 and 1000 metres above sea level. The indigenous people of the Canary Islands dried and ground their roots to make gofio.
